{"id":879,"date":"2012-05-11T15:41:34","date_gmt":"2012-05-11T20:41:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/calverosdepot.com\/?p=879"},"modified":"2014-04-27T22:01:42","modified_gmt":"2014-04-27T22:01:42","slug":"sherlock-bbc-vs-pbs-versions-a-scandal-in-belgravia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/calverosdepot.com\/blog\/2012\/05\/11\/sherlock-bbc-vs-pbs-versions-a-scandal-in-belgravia\/","title":{"rendered":"Sherlock: BBC vs. PBS versions &#8211; A Scandal in Belgravia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Firstly, I am not connected to the BBC, PBS, or anything like that. \u00a0I&#8217;m just a fanof both the show and the original stories :). \u00a0This is not an official list, just one that I put together on my own. \u00a0\ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>I have discovered that doing these differnces betweeen the original BBC version and the recut PBS version is like those cartoons in the paper where there are two pictures, but with six differences, and your job is to notice them. In fact, there is a Sherlock version of that game: the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pbs.org\/wgbh\/masterpiece\/sherlock\/observation.html\">Sherlock Observation Game<\/a>. (I keep getting the rank of DI Lestrade&#8230;. I feel insulted!&#8230; yes I&#8221;m kidding, of course&#8230;sorta).<\/p>\n<p>But this &#8220;game&#8221; is different in that it&#8217;s video, and the total amount of edits are unknown (to me, anyway). So there is that challenge.<\/p>\n<p>This is my second go (or fourth, if you count episodes rather than seasons). \u00a0Go here for <a href=\"http:\/\/calverosdepot.com\/2012\/02\/09\/sherlock-bbc-vs-pbs-versions-a-study-in-pink\/\">A Study in Pink<\/a> (includes screenshots), <a href=\"http:\/\/calverosdepot.com\/2012\/02\/15\/sherlock-bbc-vs-pbs-versions-the-blind-banker\/\">The Blind Banker<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/calverosdepot.com\/2012\/02\/22\/sherlock-bbc-vs-pbs-versions-the-great-game\/\">The Great Game<\/a><\/p>\n<p>I will say though that this is <em><strong>done for fun<\/strong><\/em>. I&#8217;m not ranting away at PBS who,I later learned from <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/#!\/steven_moffat\">Steven Moffat<\/a> himself, did not make the cuts:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/calverosdepot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/The-real-editors.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-5356\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/calverosdepot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/The-real-editors.jpg?resize=553%2C372\" alt=\"The-real-editors\" width=\"553\" height=\"372\" \/><\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/calverosdepot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/jiminy-cricket.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-5357\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/calverosdepot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/jiminy-cricket.jpg?resize=554%2C412\" alt=\"jiminy-cricket\" width=\"554\" height=\"412\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p>\u00a0Though I do wish they would have played it &#8220;as is&#8221;. \u00a0But yes, the DVD and Netflix will have the full version, just like the first season. (YAY!)<\/p>\n<p>(Note &#8211; I have done a basic clean up of my notes so there are bound to be a few mispellings. I only have included a small number of the screenshots, the rest of those will be added later. \u00a0And I&#8217;ll add more of \u00a0my\u00a0opinions\u00a0on the importance of the cut\u00a0scenes\u00a0later.)<\/p>\n<p>And awaaaayy we go:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Based on the works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The opening credits. This wasn&#8217;t a change but a pleasant surprise that the PBS version kept the same opening credits, <a href=\"http:\/\/calverosdepot.com\/2012\/02\/09\/sherlock-bbc-vs-pbs-versions-a-study-in-pink\/#opencredits\">unlike the first season<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Blog Envy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Right after Sherlock questions about John blogging &#8220;The Geek Intrepter&#8221; (haha! Pun on The Greek Intrepreter&#8221;), it cuts to John and Sherlock examining a dead woman on a slab in the morgue:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/calverosdepot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/John-and-Sherlock-you-looking-at-me.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-5359\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/calverosdepot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/John-and-Sherlock-you-looking-at-me.jpg?resize=600%2C337\" alt=\"John-and-Sherlock-you-looking-at-me\" width=\"600\" height=\"337\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>(<em>Note to self: Must make above image wallpaper for laptop&#8230;.. Done!<\/em>)<\/p>\n<p>Sherlock: Do you think people actually read your blog?<\/p>\n<p>John: Where do you think our clients come from?<\/p>\n<p>Sherlock: I have a website.<\/p>\n<p>John: \u00a0In which you write about 240 different types of tobacco ash. \u00a0Nobody&#8217;s reading your website.<\/p>\n<p>Sherlock gives John \u00a0a cold hard stare. \u00a0Both rise from bending over the body, John still looking at the woman, Sherlock still giving John a mean look.<\/p>\n<p>John: Right then. Died. Blonde hair. \u00a0No obvious cause of death, except for these speckles, whatever they are.<\/p>\n<p>In the middle of John&#8217;s observation, Sherlock turns, still iriitated, walks out of the room, followed by Lestrade.<\/p>\n<p>Importance &#8211; We begin to see the popularity of John&#8217;s blog growing, just as in the canon Watson&#8217;s stories also became more popular.<\/p>\n<p><strong>More blogging at Baker Street<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>John is sitting at his laptop typing away again in his blog. \u00a0Sherlock comes around from the kitchen, paper in one hand, food in another. \u00a0He looks over to John, walks over to read what John&#8217;s writing<\/p>\n<p>Sherlock: Oh, for Godsakes. \u00a0The Speckled Blonde?<\/p>\n<p>Then walks away. \u00a0John stops typing and looks up.<\/p>\n<p>Cut to scene of the two little girls in Baker Street telling Sherlock and John about their grandfather.<\/p>\n<p>Importance &#8211; Somwwhat. \u00a0Shows the buildup of Sherlock&#8217;s irritation of John&#8217;s writing. \u00a0Which is very similar to how Holmes felt about Watson publishing about their cases.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Even more blogging in Baker Street<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sherlock confronts John about writing about the unsolved cases.<\/p>\n<p>John &#8220;This blog has had almost 2000 hits within the last 8 hours. \u00a0This is your living Sherlock! \u00a0(cut) Not 240 types of tobacco ash.<\/p>\n<p>Sherlock: 243 (puts his saftey glasses on and flares up his handheld flamer (for lack of a better word).<\/p>\n<p><strong>I think it&#8217;s time, don&#8217;t you?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Merging from the scene of Irene Adler calling someone on her phone to the (nice!) crane shot of the exterior of 221B. \u00a0Just a couple seconds, barely noticeable.<\/p>\n<p>Also a cut of Mr.s Hudson cleaning up the flat by taking a mug and a jug of milk (eww!) off the mantel.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0Boys, you got another one!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After man comes in and then faints, Mrs. Hudsonshouts out to the boys and then sympathitically bends over and looks down at the man and lets out a &#8220;ohh&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Helicopter for John<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After Sherlock&#8217;s leptop is closed, John is told that a helicopter was landing for him. \u00a0The below shot is cut.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/calverosdepot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/helicopter-lands-for-John.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-5360\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/calverosdepot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/helicopter-lands-for-John.jpg?resize=600%2C337\" alt=\"helicopter-lands-for-John\" width=\"600\" height=\"337\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Another nitpick<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The gentleman walking in and placing down Sherlock&#8217;s clothes in front of him is cut as well.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Later, at Buckingham Palace&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After John joins Sherlock \u00a0on the couch. John notices Sherlock is not wearing any pants, they laugh, he then looks around<\/p>\n<p>John: Buckingham Palace. \u00a0(cut) I&#8217;m seriously fighting an impulse to steal an ashtray. (cut ends)<\/p>\n<p>They both giggle more.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Woman<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Mycroft introduces the case to Sherlock and shows him pictures of Irane Adler<\/p>\n<p>Mycroft: There are many names for what she does. \u00a0She prefers dominatrix.<\/p>\n<p>(cut) Sherlock (still looking at the photos): Dominatrix&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Mycroft: Don&#8217;t be alarmed. It has to do with sex.<\/p>\n<p>Sherlock (sharply looking up at Mycroft): Sex doesn&#8217;t alarm me.<\/p>\n<p>Mycroft (smugly smiles): How would you know?(cut ends)<\/p>\n<p><strong>A couple minutes later&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sherlock: Where is she?<\/p>\n<p>Mycroft: In London, currently. \u00a0She&#8217;s staying&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Sherlock: Text me the details. I&#8217;ll be in touch by the end of the day.<\/p>\n<p>(cut) Harry: Do you really think\u00a0you&#8217;ll\u00a0have news by then?<\/p>\n<p>Sherlock: No, I think I&#8217;ll have the photographs<\/p>\n<p>Harry: One can only hope you&#8217;re as good as you seem to think.<\/p>\n<p>Sherlock then looks at him and makes the following deductions about Harry &#8212;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Dog Lover<\/li>\n<li>Horse Rider<\/li>\n<li>Publis School<\/li>\n<li>Early Riser<\/li>\n<li>Left Side of Bed<\/li>\n<li>Non-Smoker<\/li>\n<li>Father<\/li>\n<li>Half \u00a0Welsh<\/li>\n<li>Keen Reader<\/li>\n<li>Tea Drinker<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/calverosdepot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/Something-about-Harry.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-5361\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/calverosdepot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/Something-about-Harry.jpg?resize=600%2C337\" alt=\"Something-about-Harry\" width=\"600\" height=\"337\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Sherlock: I&#8217;ll need some equipment of course.<\/p>\n<p>Mycroft: Anything you require, I&#8217;ll have it sent&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Sherlock (interrupting): Can I have a box of matches?<\/p>\n<p>Harry: I&#8217;m sorry?<\/p>\n<p>Sherlock: Ot your cigerrette lighter,either would do (holds out his hand towards Harry)<\/p>\n<p>Harry: I don&#8217;t smoke.<\/p>\n<p>Sherlock: No, I know you don&#8217;t but your employer does<\/p>\n<p>John (looks confused, then looks down)<\/p>\n<p>Harry (reaches into his pocket and pulls out a lighter): We have kept a lot of people successful in the dark about this little fact, Mr Holmes.<\/p>\n<p>Sherlock: I&#8217;m not the commonwealth (turns to leave)<\/p>\n<p>John: And that&#8217;s as modest as he gets. \u00a0Pleasure to meet you (turns and follows Sherlock (cut ends)<\/p>\n<p>Sherlock: La&#8217;ers<\/p>\n<p>Both leave the room<\/p>\n<p><strong>Later in the cab<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>(cut)<\/p>\n<p>John: Okay, the smoking. \u00a0How did you know?<\/p>\n<p>Sherlock: The evidence was right under your nose John. As ever, you see but do not osberve.<\/p>\n<p>John: Observe what?<\/p>\n<p>Sherlock (reaching into his coat and pulls out&#8230;) An ashtray (flips it in the air)<\/p>\n<p>Both of them laugh<\/p>\n<p>Pictures are shown being taken by someone of both men in the cab (cut ends) and then a shot of Irene holding her phone, looking at them.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Breakfast at Baker Street<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sherlock, John are sitting at the table. \u00a0Sherlock reading the paper, John eating. \u00a0Mycroft is facing them, standing in front of the fireplace.<\/p>\n<p>Mycroft: \u00a0How can we do anything while she has the photographs. \u00a0Our hands are tied.<\/p>\n<p>Sherlock: She&#8217;d applaud your choice of words. \u00a0(cut begins) Do you see how this works? \u00a0That camera phone is her &#8216;get out of jail free&#8217; \u00a0card. \u00a0HAve to leave her alone. \u00a0Treat her like royalty Mycroft.<\/p>\n<p>John: \u00a0Though not how she treats royalty (cut ends)<\/p>\n<p>Holmes&#8217; phone makes a ring, the sound of a woman&#8217;s gasp<\/p>\n<p><strong>A Christmas evening with the gang<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A couple seconds of Sherlock playing the violin from the beginning of the crossing over from the last scene to the Chrstimas scene.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Calling Mycroft<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After Sherlock hangs up with Mycroft and John comes in to check in on him<\/p>\n<p>John: You ok?<\/p>\n<p>Sherlock: Yes (and closes the door. (cut) (He stares out while walking back to his bad)<\/p>\n<p>Shot to Mycroft, still holding his phone, staring out of the window as the snow falls. Then turns and walks away.<br \/>\n<a name=\"barts_morgue\"><\/a><br \/>\n<strong>At Bart&#8217;s Morgue<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A couple seconds cut from Sherlock and Mycroft walking down the hall to the morgue.<\/p>\n<p>Later when Sherlock and Mycroft walk out, there&#8217;s a second of Molly (poor Molly!) cut. The nice camera shot of the back of Sherlock&#8217;s head through the morgue&#8217;s window is shortened.<\/p>\n<p>After Sherlock and Mycroft wish each other Merry Chirstmas and Happy New Year, Mycroft stays inthe hallway and calls John who is still at 221B.<\/p>\n<p>Mycroft: He&#8217;s on his way. Have you found anything?<\/p>\n<p>John: No. Did he take the cigerrette?<\/p>\n<p>Mycroft: Yes.<\/p>\n<p>John: (with a sigh) Shit (turns around to Mrs. Hudson) He&#8217;s coming. Ten minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Hudson: There&#8217;s nothing in the bedroom.<\/p>\n<p>John (back on the phone) No, it looks like he&#8217;s clean. We&#8217;ve tried all the usual places. Are you sure tonight&#8217;s the danger night?<\/p>\n<p>Mycroft: No. But I never am. You have to stay with him John.<\/p>\n<p>John: Uh, I&#8217;ve got plans.<\/p>\n<p>Mycroft: Nooo. (and hangs up)<\/p>\n<p>(back to 221B) John: Mycroft&#8230;Mm (hangs up his end and turns toward his girlfriend who is sitting on the sofa. He joins her) I&#8217;m really sorry.<\/p>\n<p>Jeanette: You know, my friends are so wrong about you.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/calverosdepot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/John-and-Jeanette-played-by-Oona-Chaplin.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-5362\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/calverosdepot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/John-and-Jeanette-played-by-Oona-Chaplin.jpg?resize=600%2C337\" alt=\"John-and-Jeanette-played-by-Oona-Chaplin\" width=\"600\" height=\"337\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>John: Hmm?<\/p>\n<p>Jeanette: You&#8217;re a great boyfriend.<\/p>\n<p>John (taken by surprise, looks away) Ok, that&#8217;s good. (turns back to her) I always thought I was great.<\/p>\n<p>Jeanette (looking at her watch): Sherlock Holmes is a very lucky man.<\/p>\n<p>John (makes an exasperating sound): Jeanette, please.<\/p>\n<p>Jeanette: No I mean it. It&#8217;s heart warming. You&#8217;ll do anything for him. (gets up to leave) You can&#8217;t even tell your girlfriends apart.<\/p>\n<p>John (gets up and follows her to the door): Look, I&#8217;ll do anything for you. Just tell me what it is I&#8217;m not doing!<\/p>\n<p>Jeanette: Don&#8217;t make me compete with Sherlock Holmes!<\/p>\n<p>John: I&#8217;ll walk your dog for you. I said it now, I walk your&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Jeanette: I don&#8217;t have a dog!<\/p>\n<p>John (in a loud whisper to himself): Because that was the last one&#8230;okay.<\/p>\n<p>Jeanette: Jesus! (picks up her things and walks out)<\/p>\n<p>John: I&#8217;ll call you.<\/p>\n<p>Jeanette: No!<\/p>\n<p>John: Okay ( and walks back inside)<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Hudson: That wasn&#8217;t very good, was it?<\/p>\n<p>Importance &#8211; Helps show more of Mycroft&#8217;s and John&#8217;s concern for Sherlock. \u00a0Not happy that the scene with John and Jeanette was cut. \u00a0I am a gigantic fan of her grandfather, the legendary Charlie Chaplin (yes, *that* Charlie Chaplin). \u00a0And there are multi-faceted connections between Sherlock Holmes and Charlie Chaplin which I will write about in a future post, one of them being that as a boy he was in the <a href=\"http:\/\/chaplininpictures.tumblr.com\/post\/6623396178\/young-charlie-as-billy-the-page-boy-in-sherlock\">Sherlock Holmes play as Billy the page<\/a> during the very early 20th century.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Later at 221B<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Exterior shot of the outside of 221B with a cab driving by is cut. \u00a0John is sitting in his chair reading a book. Sherlock walks in, looksing dazed. John puts down his book and turns around.<\/p>\n<p>John: Oh, hi.<\/p>\n<p>Sherlock stands in the doorway, slowly looks around the room.<\/p>\n<p>John: You okay?<\/p>\n<p>Sherlock still looks around and walks away.<\/p>\n<p>Sherlock: Hope you didn&#8217;t mess up my sock index this time.<\/p>\n<p>John turns forward, puts his book down, and rubs his hand on his face, sighs, and rests his face in it. (cut ends. \u00a0Yup from Mycroft calling John up until now was cut)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sherlock composing<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Next shot is of Sherlock playing his violin and writing down music in front of oen of the long windows in the living room. The first shot of the hallway is cut.<\/p>\n<p>After Sherlock attempting and failing with the 1895 passcode, John mentions that he&#8217;s going out.<\/p>\n<p>John: Well, I&#8217;m going out for a bit.<\/p>\n<p>Sherlock continues to playin, not replying to him. \u00a0John walks to the kitchen where Mr&#8217;s Hudson is claening up. \u00a0He picks up his keys off the table.<\/p>\n<p>John (talking a little above a whisper): Listen, has he had\u00a0any kind\u00a0of girlfriend, boyfriend, a realtionship? Ever?<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Hudson( also talking just above a whisper): I don&#8217;t know.<\/p>\n<p>They both look toward Sherlock who is still playing the violin, his back to them.<\/p>\n<p>John turns back to Mrs. Hudson.<\/p>\n<p>John (in a somewhat frustrated tone): How could we not know?<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Hudson (shrugs): He&#8217;s Sherlock. \u00a0How will we ever know what goes on in that funny old head?<\/p>\n<p>John smiles, and they both turn toward Sherlock again.<\/p>\n<p>John (tosses his keys a little into the air): Alright, see ya.<\/p>\n<p>He turns and walks out. \u00a0(cut ends) Mrs. Hudson looks at Sherlock again while the sound of John&#8217;s footsteps are heard going down the stairs. \u00a0She walks out of the room.<\/p>\n<p>221B exterior. \u00a0John walks out the front door and starts walking down the sidewalk. \u00a0A woman in a black dress is standing outside calls out to him.<\/p>\n<p>Woman: John?<\/p>\n<p>John: (turning around. \u00a0The sounds of Sherlock&#8217;s violin can still be heard) Yep? (sees woman) Hello.(then struck by her looks. \u00a0Slower, he speaks again) Hello.<\/p>\n<p>Woman: So. \u00a0Any plans for New Year&#8217;s tonight?<\/p>\n<p>John (slying smiling): Ahh (looks behind him then back to her). \u00a0Nothing fixed. \u00a0Nothing I couldn&#8217;t heartlessly abandon. \u00a0You have any ideas?<\/p>\n<p>The woman looks behind her.<\/p>\n<p>Woman: One. (cut ends) A black car pulls up right next to where they&#8217;re standing. \u00a0He shakes his head a little.<\/p>\n<p>John looks over to the car and then walks towards it.<\/p>\n<p>John: You know, Mycroft could just\u00a0phone\u00a0me, if he didn&#8217;t have this\u00a0bloody,\u00a0stupid, power complex.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sherlock to the rescue<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A couple seconds is cut of Sherlock looking up the stairs with a look of quiet seething on his face<\/p>\n<p>Importance &#8211; minor. \u00a0Perosnally, I am glad that this scene was not cut more than that. \u00a0This is my favorite scene in the episode :).<\/p>\n<p>After Sherlock sprays and headbutts the gunman, the is a couple cut of Sherlock looking back at the gunman after checking Mrs. Hudson and the black car pulling up and John getting out.<\/p>\n<p>Later when John is attending to Mrs. Hudson&#8217;s injuries, the gunman&#8217;s shadow is seen falling and a crashing sound is heard.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Hudson: Oh, that was right on top of my bins!<\/p>\n<p>The groaning of the gunman from outside is cut out<\/p>\n<p><strong>X-raying the phone<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A couple seconds are cut out near the end of the scene with Sherlock and Molly.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The trio at Baker Street<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After Sherlok and John finding Irene asleep in Sherlock&#8217;s bed, they begin to ask her questions.<\/p>\n<p>Sherlock: So who&#8217;s after you?<\/p>\n<p>Irene: PEople who want to kill me.<\/p>\n<p>Sherlock: And who&#8217;s that?<\/p>\n<p>Irene: Killers.<\/p>\n<p>(cut) John: It would help yif you were a tiny bit more specific.(cut ends)<\/p>\n<p>Sherlock: So you faked you&#8217;re own death in order to get ahead of them?<\/p>\n<p>Irene: It&#8217;ll work for a while.<\/p>\n<p>Sherlock: Except you let John know you&#8217;re alive and therefore me.<\/p>\n<p>Irene: I knew you&#8217;d keep my secret.<\/p>\n<p>Sherlock: You couldn&#8217;t.<\/p>\n<p>Irene: But you did, didn&#8217;t you?<\/p>\n<p>Pause.<\/p>\n<p>Irene: Where&#8217;s my camera phone?<\/p>\n<p>John: It&#8217;s not here. We&#8217;re not stupid.<\/p>\n<p>Irene: \u00a0(cut)\u00a0Then what have you done with it? (cut ends)\u00a0If they guessed you got it, they&#8217;ll be watching you.<\/p>\n<p>Dear me Mr. Holmes, dear me.<\/p>\n<p>A few seconds of Mycroft sitting with a look of worry on his face is cut.<\/p>\n<p>Catching a flight<\/p>\n<p>A souple seconds are cut from the car that is driving Sherlock to the plane.<\/p>\n<p>After the confrontation with Mycroft and Irene, there&#8217;s a couple seconds of the plane&#8217;s exterior that was cut.<\/p>\n<p><strong>An unlikely meeting place<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the rain, John and Mycroft meet in front of the Speedy&#8217;s sandwich shop. \u00a0A couple seconds are cut from the time Mycroft steps on his cigerrette to after John follows him int othe cafe.<\/p>\n<p>Another second is cut after Mycroft mentions that\u00a0initially\u00a0Sherlock wanted to be a pirate.<\/p>\n<p>Last couple seconds of silence at the end of the scene are also cut.<\/p>\n<p><strong>John hands over Irene&#8217;s phone<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sherlock: That her phone?<\/p>\n<p>John: Yes, I was just about to take it back. (looks at Sherlock who has gone back to sitting at his microscope) Do you want to&#8230;?<\/p>\n<p>Sherlock takes a deep breath. \u00a0John quietlystands there, still holding Irene&#8217;s file and phone, looking at Sherlock. \u00a0A couple seconds is cut of him standing there.<\/p>\n<p>John: Listen, actually&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>Sherlock: No, but I will have the camera phone then. (He holds out his hand while still looking through his microscope)<\/p>\n<p>John (looking down at the pile of Irene&#8217;s file) But there&#8217;s nothing on it any more. \u00a0It&#8217;s been stripped.<\/p>\n<p>Sherlock: I know, but I&#8230;(moves his hand again towards John, still looking through the microscope) I&#8217;ll still have it.<\/p>\n<p>(cut) John: I&#8217;ve gotta give this back to Mycroft. \u00a0You can&#8217;t keep it&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Sherlock, still holding out his hand.
